Her mother, Mary, died on Elizabeth's 41st birthday, Her brothers were both in the Civil War. John died at Chancellorsville. Daniel was captured and survived Andersonville and then later testified in the warden's trial, one of the few war crimes trials, if not the only one. Daniel was eventually warden of Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia around the turn of the century.

Wells - On November 30, 1904, Elizabeth, the wife of the late Francis Wells, aged 63 years. Relatives and friends of the family, and the ladies of the G.A.R. Circle No 94, are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday at 2 PM from her late residence, Uber at Logan. Interment at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
