Ann Eliza Bubar Obituary

March 30, 1941 - Caribou, Aroostook, Maine, USA
Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Bubar passed away at her home on the Grimes road Sunday evening, March 30 at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 3 days. Mrs. Bubar was born in Caribou and was the daughter of the late George B. Brown and Susan Brown. She has always lived in Caribou and since her marriage 73 years ago has lived on the same farm on the Grimes Road. She married William Bubar, a Civil War soldier and to this union was born eleven children. Mrs Phoebe Kelley (deceased); Mrs. Susan Wright (deceased); Mrs. Rose Doake; Mrs. Sherman Doody; Mrs. Edward Doody and James Bubar, all of Caribou; Mrs. Carrie Wilcox of Mapleton; John Bubar of Corinna, Maine; also George Bubar (deceased). She also leaves 57 grandchildren, 129 great grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs Jennie M Browne of Caribou and a brother Al Brown of Sullivan, Indiana. Mrs. Bubar was probably the last Civil War widow of this town. She was a kind and loving neighbor, very cheerful and had her sense of understanding until a few minutes before her death. She was of great assistance in helping people to get their birth certificates as she had a very keen memory and loved to relate happenings of her early life. The funeral services were held at the Baptist Church, the Rev. Mr. MacGorman officiating. The floral tributes were many and beautiful and a token of high esteem in which she was held by he relatives and friends. The pal bearers were four grandchildren, Donald Irvine, William and Herbert Wilcox. Interment was in the Evergreen vault to await burial in the Grimes cemetery.
